The Summit's Peak

I reached the final stretch of my hike to the top of Mount Fuji. I finally broke through the thick cover of trees. After hiking for 2 days I was finally at the summit's peak. At first I felt light headed but then I put my head down and began searching for my Demon Stone. My teachers told me I would feel a presence, yet I felt nothing.

But there was something else, a chill was sent down my spine. Suddenly a beam of light struck the ground in front of me. As the beam faded a pedestal began to show with a man next to it. However this was no man, it was a spirit.

He welcomed me by saying “Hello, Takami.” I was in shock, how did he know who I was?

“How do you know my name?” I asked “who are you?”

“Questions these are, matter do they not, my boy” he said slowly, almost as if he was a turtle, yet I couldn’t tell if he was as wise as one. “Yours, this is.” He then pointed to the empty pedestal and suddenly , out of thin air, a bright, glowing, yellow gem appeared upon it.

As it appeared I instantly felt this feeling inside of me that someone else was with us, just as my masters said I would, yet its present feels more like energy rather than a person.

The spirit said “Take this stone, you will, help guide you on your journey to balance this world, it will.” Balance? What does he mean by this

“What do yo…” before I could even finish my sentence he vanished into thin air.

Before even thinking about grabbing the stone I thought to myself, “should I take this.” But I found I couldn’t resist.

As I reached for the stone, I felt the feeling of energy grow as I inched towards it. Right as my finger touched it I blinked and found myself somewhere else. I looked around at this empty place, all I could feel was the thick layer of smoke resting on the ground and the beating heat from the sun.

I suddenly heard a voice from behind me “Takami…” I quickly looked behind me, but there was no one. As I turned back I was increased by the shadow of a man standing in front of me.

This man appeared to be the same as the spirit I met before “I am Tengu, the spirit of this stone I am”

“Why did I fall upon this” I said to Tengu

“My boy, for you did not fall upon it, chose you it did” It chose me? But my me, I thought. “Its humble servant I am, and now am I also yours”

“My servant?” I said with confusion

“Yes” he said with a smile on his face “For I am here to help you and guide you”

“What reason do I have for guidance?” I asked.

“Balance you will bring to this world.”
