Man on The Mountain

Beauty. You peer out from the dense green forest, filled with evergreens standing tall. In front of you is a large body of water, as blue as the sky, flowing with the wind. Behind the water, you are greeted with rough rocky mountains standing proud. The mountains are not only tipped with snow; they are hit by the warmth of the sun. The water reflects all these massive, magical, mountains and it feels as if you were to jump in, you would end up in another world. It’s magical.

As you take a deep breath in, you smell the evergreens surrounding you and taste the cold air. You listen in to hear: the sound of birds; the trees swaying back and forth; and the waves crashing into one another. Yet you feel as if there is something missing… you’re alone. Looking into each direction, wondering where civilization is?

You find yourself venturing to the top of a mountain, it’s cold, as if you’re being bit by ice. The wind feels like it’s trying to push you over and bring you back down to the forest you began in. From up here the forest truly looks small, as if its blades of grass in a field. The sun is blinding: as bright as fire, yet you’re still cold…

“Will I ever leave this place?” says the man curiously.

“This is your home now” the ominous voice says in a soft tone.

“But my family?”

“You will see them when the time comes.”
